HAVING A POSITIVE IMPACT

Committed to sustainability

Gerald Edelman launched its Sustainability Committee in 2021, with a core mission in mind: To lead the way to a more sustainable future by inspiring stakeholders to make changes that have a positive impact on the planet.

Focusing on client success and growth isn’t enough for our business. Our growth must be achieved sustainably and in a way that isn’t damaging to the environment in which we live and work. That’s why we’ve set near-term, company-wide emission reductions in line with climate science with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Our goals

Reduce scope one and scope two GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2021 base year.

UPDATE: We have beaten our target of reducing scope two emissions through switching to renewable energy suppliers.

Measure and reduce scope three emissions.

UPDATE: Our core impact area is purchased goods and services. We have implemented a supplier due diligence process to assess suppliers on ESG practices to promote responsible practices and reduce emissions from our purchased goods and services.

Reduce water usage by 3.6% per office annually.

UPDATE: Water usage has increased by 65 kgCO2e. In 2024-2025, we are working on obtaining more accurate data through our water supplier to give us a better understanding of our water usage.

Achieve zero waste to landfill.

UPDATE: Through our work with First Mile we have achieved zero waste to landfill and our recycling rate is 61%.

Diversity, Equality and Inclusion

We are committed to creating a culture of inclusion where everyone feels welcomed and respected, regardless of their background. Our DEI strategy ensures our workplace is and remains inclusive and empowering. Below are the three pillars that drive our strategy. Inclusive culture

We are undertaking initiatives focused on building an inclusive workplace, where all employees feel valued. This includes training and upskilling our team on key DEI themes, such as unconscious bias. We encourage members of the team to be ambassadors and champions of DEI and to voice what is important to them through initiatives and recognition of important events throughout the year.

Promotion and development

We are creating a promotion and development process that is clearly communicated and is underpinned by clear, robust and fair processes and decision-making – so that all employees have an equal chance to progress.

Data and measurement

We are collecting and reviewing data on DEI metrics to track our progress and identify areas for improvement. We see DEI as an ongoing process, not a destination.

Gerald Edelman is proud to partner with London Youth!

Our mission? To have a positive impact on children and young people, helping them to reach new heights.

We believe that all children and young people should have access to the same opportunities and be given the very best chance to achieve their goals and aspirations.

So far this year, we have raised £3,222 for London Youth through various initiatives and events.

Throughout 2024, our team has completed 106 hours of volunteering.

Mindful Working, Mindful Living

At Gerald Edelman, we prioritise our team’s mental wellbeing. Mental health has been described as the world's next epidemic. In response, in 2022 we formed our Mental Health Committee to remove the stigma of mental health in the workplace and support the mental wellbeing of our team.

We do this through our Mindful Working, Mindful Living approach. We want our team to feel fully supported in their role but to also be given the tools they need to support mindful living outside of their work.

Some of the ways we support our team:

  • A team of five, fully trained and designated Mental Health First Aiders.
  • Quarterly wellbeing workshops hosted by WorkLifeWell.
  • An office wellbeing room, a peaceful space for private chats, meditation or reflection.
  • Access to health care cash plans.
  • Yearly health reports from Bluecrest.
