CONTACT ANA-MARIA
No matter how simple or challenging the queries are I am always at clients’ disposal. My main focus is on building long-lasting relationships by learning from clients, adapting my approach accordingly and addressing and resolving their queries in a straightforward manner.
We are also working closely with our international network, XLNC, which means that if there are any queries outside the scope of our advice, I would often be able to refer or liaise with tax advisers from various countries. Hence, ensuring that we are offering a wide-ranging service.
I work as part of our International tax team with the main focus on private clients. The key focus is on planning ahead to minimise their exposure to UK taxes on their worldwide assets, be it at the stage of their pre-UK arrival or post-UK arrival. I also advise on domicile matters, UK property acquisitions, disposals, and restructuring. Some of the niche focus areas that I’ve worked on recently are the taxation of cryptocurrency and of offshore trusts.

I graduated with a degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Southampton and joined Gerald Edelman in 2015. I went on to complete my ACA training contract whilst being part of the audit team and later on joined the International tax team where I completed my CTA training contract.
What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done?
In August 2009, I moved from a small country in Europe, Moldova, to the UK, where I had to start from scratch in learning the language as well as climbing onto the education ladder since my previous qualifications attained in Moldova were not recognised in the UK.
What’s the most exciting thing on your bucket list?
To visit Finland or Sweden to see the northern lights and try the ritual of a Scandi ice-swimming!
What one piece of advice would you give your 10-year-old self?
Be patient, inquisitive and resilient as the hard work will pay off.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Telepathy – being a twin I always felt there was a special connection between my sister and I, yet despite trying we never managed to “read each other’s minds”.
