Most clients who come to me, have a problem that they need solving; that may be the structure of their business, remuneration, incentivisation, succession or any aspect. I present solutions that are pragmatic, commercial and tax efficient, but ultimately, the result is what they wanted their business or estate to look like when they first came to me. I provide clear, technical but accessible advice, but in the end, I help clients achieve their goals.
At Gerald Edelman, I am a partner who specialises in tax both in Corporate Tax and Private Client and Personal Tax. My role is primarily advisory, helping businesses and their owners with the structures of their businesses and planning for those businesses and their owners with particular emphasis on their tax affairs. I support the tax team in all areas including ad hoc queries and compliance issues.

I started my working life as a secondary school teacher but left after about 10 years. I wanted to then find a career that was intellectually challenging but dealt with people; tax was perfect. I quickly qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser and then as a Trusts and Estates Practitioner. I have worked in various firms, around half my time in the Home Counties and half within London and was appointed a partner in 2018 and have worked in that capacity ever since.
What is the most exciting thing on your bucket list?
I’d love to attend the Indy 500 in the USA. Thirty – three cars at 230mph for 500 miles attended by half a million fans – epic!
What one piece of advice would you give your 10-year-old self?
You are capable of so much more than you think. If you want to do it, push yourself forward and give it a good go, you’ll probably do better than you believed.
If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be?
The late Freddie Mercury. The stories we already know are the tip of the iceberg! I would love to hear about the people he met and his musical insights.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Invisibility. All the interesting, secret and amazing things you could listen in to undetected. All the events you could slip into without a ticket or an invitation.
